Australia and New Zealand Approve High Purity Reb-A for Use in Food and Beverage Production

10.10.2008PureCircle today announces that the Australian and New Zealand Regulatory Authority ("FSANZ") has given approval for steviol glycosides (Reb-A) to be used as a mainstream food and beverage ("F&B") ingredient in those countries.

PureCircle is the world's exclusive supplier of high purity Reb-A, the all natural zero calorie sweetener, under the PureVia™ brand.

PureVia™ Reb-A is increasingly seen by the world's largest F&B producers as a viable complement to sugar in mainstream F&B production and the approval therefore represents a major step forwards for PureCircle.

Commenting on the FSANZ approval, Magomet Malsagov, Chief Executive of PureCircle said:

"This is great news and reinforces our belief that we will soon see similar approvals in the United States, the world's largest market, and in Europe, where Switzerland has already taken the lead in giving the go-ahead for PureVia™ Reb-A to be used in mainstream F&B production."

"Consumers are demanding a natural and healthy solution to the global obesity epidemic and other health issues resulting from high sugar usage. As an all-natural and calorie-free product, PureVia™ Reb-A is seen as providing that solution."

Change of Accounting Period and Notification of Revised Results Announcement Date

22.08.2008PureCircle announces that it is to change its year-end from the current 31 December to 30 June. This change is to bring the Company's financial reporting cycle into line with the Company's principal operating activities, particularly its major sales contracts and the buying season for stevia leaf, its primary raw material.

As recently announced, the Company has been successful in securing significant new multi-year sales contracts. These and the Company's other major sales contracts now all run on a 1 July to 30 June basis. On the supply side, over 80% of global supply of stevia leaf is currently sourced from China. The China stevia leaf harvest is intensely seasonal with buying starting from early July. Inventories are at their lowest at end June. The Company's next results are for the six month period to 30 June 2008.

Thereafter the first full year results will be for the year from 1 July 2008 to 30 June 2009. The Company had previously advised that the (unaudited) interim results would be announced on 17 September 2008. As 30 June 2008 will now constitute an accounting period end, the results for the six months to 30 June 2008 will now require a full audit. Consequently the Company has decided to defer the announcement date to Wednesday 15 October 2008* in order to enable the audit to take place.

The interim results for the six months ended 31 December 2008 will be released in March 2009.

22 August 2008

* A presentation for analysts will take place that morning at 09.30 at the offices of College Hill, The Registry, Royal Mint Court, London EC3N 4QN

Regulatory submissions and notification of interim results

21.07.2008PureCircle notes a number of recent moves which could expedite the adoption of Rebaudioside-A (“Reb-A”) as an approved food and beverage ingredient in key markets.

First, submissions to the Food & Drug Administration in the United States have been made by various consumer products manufacturers to obtain Generally Recognised As Safe (“GRAS”) clearance for Reb-A to be used as a food and beverage ingredient in that country. The process to obtain GRAS status is expected to take about six months, although there can be no guarantee that GRAS clearance will ultimately be obtained.

Separately, the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives (“JECFA”) convened in June to consider and evaluate various steviol glycosides, including high purity Reb-A, and set permanent Acceptable Daily Intake (“ADI”) levels.

The Company will provide further updates to the market when GRAS clearance is obtained.

PureCircle also advises that it will be announcing its interim results for the six months ended 30 June 2008 on 17 September 2008. A presentation for analysts, which will include an update on general business developments, will take place that morning at 09.30 at the offices of College Hill.
