Corporate Social Responsibility

PureCircle is proud to produce a range of all-natural, healthy, zero calorie products for millions of consumers around the world. We are committed to complying with the highest global Social Responsibility standards for our products, employees, the communities in which we work and the environment.

Our PureVia natural sweetener is made from the leaves of the Stevia plant. Produced by local farmers around the world, it all starts in the rural fields of Thailand, Indonesia, China, Paraguay and Kenya. Since Stevia farming is an important source of income for these small farmers, our Social Responsibility programme begins at the farm and continues all the way through to manufacture, packaging and distribution.

Products
PureVia natural sweetener begins in rural farms, where independent small farmers grow the Stevia plant. We are proud to provide an important source of income to these farmers in rural communities. As Stevia farming expands to meet the growing need for all-natural, zero calorie sweeteners, PureCircle continues to support these small growers. We are actively providing agronomic support to spread important farming knowledge, as well as ensure we get the highest quality leaves available. This is an on-going process, and involves trial sites in Thailand, Indonesia, China, Kenya and Paraguay. Our product traceability starts with each batch of leaves we receive, allowing us to pinpoint the source of any product that does not meet our exacting quality standards.

PureCircle is committed to meeting the highest standards of product quality, safety and traceability. Our state-of-the-art production facility receives both internal and third party audits to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HAACP and AIM. Our certifications are audited by third parties. As a result, our customers and consumers can enjoy PureVia as part of their healthy lifestyle with complete confidence.

People
PureCircle is a fast-growing company. As we expand to meet the growing demand for PureVia sweetener, we will need other talented people to join our team. With operations in Asia, Africa and Latin America, we have an ethnically diverse base of employees. Naturally, we encourage a culture of diversity and inclusiveness. For proof, one has only to look at the seven member executive team which leads our company: six are of different nationalities. As a global business, we feel that embracing diversity is not only the ‘right thing to do’, but that it helps us to better manage our diverse customer and production geographies.

Environment
PureCircle is committed to producing in an environmentally-conscious manner. We believe that PureVia can play an important role in improving the way the world enjoys sweeteners. We practice a philosophy of continuous improvement, constantly looking to identify those areas in which we can make the most positive impact on the environment through changing the way we do things.

Water Management
The process of making PureVia sweetener begins in the same way that we all make a cup of tea – by steeping the Stevia leaves in water to extract its natural sweetness. As such, it is important that we continually work to find ways to minimise our water usage. 100% of our residual water is treated to ensure that all the used water meets local water quality standards.

Community
PureCircle is committed to the wellbeing of the communities in which we work. Our business model of working with independent farmers alone is an important contribution to many communities in rural Asia, Latin America and Africa. We also encourage our employees to participate in local community activities, and, as a company, actively contribute to a number of local projects, particularly those focused on nutrition, healthy eating, the environment, sustainable farming and local crises.

In 2008, PureCircle became a proud supporter of Amigos de las Americas (Friends of Americas), a private, non-profit, NGO which undertakes community development and volunteer work in Paraguay and other developing countries. ‘Amigos’ provides education to rural communities on nutrition, healthy eating, drinking water and environmental issues.
