PureCircle is at the forefront of natural plant breeding innovation to benefit our customers. Our proprietary research initiatives are focused on increasing the stevia plant yield through natural yet selective breeding, improved plant propagation techniques and plantation practices. We have plant breeder rights to a number of high quality leaf varieties well in excess of current market averages and our proprietary stevia varieties already deliver twice the Reb A content than the industry average. PureCircle continues to invest in high quality leaf propagation stock to accelerate further improvements in leaf quality and uses the best quality leaf of each harvest as mother stock for the next planting.
Additionally, we have teamed up with Michigan State University (MSU), one of the world’s premier horticulture research institutions, to further research stevia plant breeding. The goal of the research is to accelerate the creation of proprietary varieties of stevia that contain dramatically higher levels of sweetness in the leaf as well as other improved agricultural properties. This new research and varietal development are focused on the next generation of steviol glycosides beyond Reb A.
The joint breeding efforts between PureCircle and MSU leverage the most modern science for natural, conventional stevia plant breeding. The incorporation of MSU’s cutting edge research combined with PureCircle’s industry leading, proprietary varieties will ensure that we continue to lead the industry with sustainable agriculture while improving the economics for both farmers and our customers. This partnership builds on the strength of combining industry and academia to bring value to global food and beverage manufacturers.
